Website for gyms and fitness studios: memberships, trial sessions and the cancellation button
People compare gyms online before they visit: price, opening hours, equipment, classes and how easy it is to start and to cancel. A gym website that answers these questions honestly and makes a trial session easy brings more sign-ups than one that hides prices behind a contact form.
Memberships people can compare
Show membership options with the monthly price, minimum term, joining fee and what is included, such as classes, sauna or personal training. Hidden fees are among the most common reasons for bad reviews. A short comparison table helps visitors choose without calling.
Trial sessions and class schedules
A free or low-cost trial session is the most important conversion on a gym website. Let visitors book it online with a time slot and send a reminder. Publish the class schedule with free places, and let members book classes themselves.
Online contracts: the rules in Germany
If members can sign up online, German law requires a clearly labelled cancellation button on the website for all contracts that can be concluded there (§ 312k BGB). In standard consumer contracts, an initial term of more than two years is not permitted, and after the minimum term, contracts may only be extended indefinitely with a notice period of no more than one month (§ 309 No. 9 BGB):
- A cancellation button, labelled for example “Cancel contracts here”, always accessible.
- Clear terms: minimum term, renewal and notice period.
- An order button that states the obligation to pay.
- Confirmation of the contract and of any cancellation on a durable medium.
Health data and photos
Fitness assessments and body analyses involve health data, which is specially protected. Collect it only for a clear purpose, with consent, and not through a simple contact form. Photos and videos from classes need the consent of the people shown.
Local search and costs
Gyms are searched by district and by speciality, such as “women's gym”, “functional training” or “24/7 gym”. A Google Business Profile with opening hours and photos, plus a page for each speciality, brings the most visitors. A gym website with membership pages, trial booking and a class schedule starts at €1,800 with us; online contracts and integration with your membership software are quoted separately.
Frequently asked questions
- Do we need online sign-up?
- Not necessarily. Many gyms convert better with a trial session first. If you offer online contracts, the cancellation button and contract rules must be in place.
- Should we show prices online?
- Yes. Prices are the most sought-after information and filter out visitors who would not sign up anyway.
- Can members book classes on the website?
- Yes, through your membership or booking software. We connect it so that the schedule and free places stay up to date.
