Careers pages for small and mid-sized businesses: applications without job boards

Almost every applicant looks at the employer's website before applying. If all they find is "We're a young, dynamic team" and an email address, they apply elsewhere. A good careers page answers applicants' real questions, makes applying possible in minutes and gets jobs into Google's job search for free. Examples use German rules.

What applicants want to know

Instead of clichés, the page needs concrete answers:

  • Salary or salary range and benefits.
  • Working hours, shifts, remote work, holidays.
  • What the job actually involves day to day, with examples.
  • Team, managers and onboarding, with real photos and voices.
  • Development: training, promotion, apprenticeships.

Job pages for Google job search

Each open position gets its own page with JobPosting structured data: title, description, location, employment type, salary, posting and expiry date. Google can then show the job in its job search without you paying a portal. Remove filled positions immediately.

The EU Pay Transparency Directive requires information on starting pay or its range before the interview; a salary in the ad meets that and brings more suitable applications.

Apply in two minutes

A short form with name, contact, position, earliest start date and an optional CV is enough for first contact. A mandatory cover letter deters many applicants, especially in trades, care, logistics and hospitality. Reply fast; good applicants have several offers.

Legal: equal treatment and applicant data

Under Section 11 of Germany's General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), job ads must not discriminate, for example by gender or age; hence "(m/f/d)" and neutral wording instead of "young team". Applicant data may only be used for the process. After a rejection, claims under Section 15(4) AGG can be raised within two months; many companies therefore delete documents a few months after the process ends unless there's consent for a talent pool.

We set up a careers page with job management, short application and structured data as part of your website; new websites with a careers section start at €1,800.

Frequently asked questions

Is a careers page worth it for a small business?
Yes, especially there. Small businesses can't pay expensive job boards permanently; a good careers page plus Google's job search brings visibility for free.
Do we have to state the salary?
The EU Pay Transparency Directive requires information before the interview; check the status of the German implementation. Either way, salary information brings more suitable applications.
Can we post jobs ourselves?
Yes. You create jobs in the editor; the structured data is generated automatically.
