Websites for haulage and logistics companies: freight enquiries and driver hiring

Haulage companies mostly win work through personal contacts and freight exchanges. The website still gets checked: by shippers looking for a new partner and by drivers looking for a new employer. For both groups it must quickly show what the company can do and allow enquiries without back-and-forth. Examples use German rules.

Describe services the way shippers search

Shippers search by transport type, region and specialism. A page per focus shows:

  • Transport types: full and part loads, groupage, refrigerated and dangerous goods, heavy haulage.
  • Routes and regions you run regularly, national and international.
  • Fleet with vehicle types, capacities and equipment.
  • Warehousing and logistics services, if any.
  • Certifications and proof: Community licence, ADR, quality management, insurance.

A freight enquiry with all the data you need

A good enquiry form asks for loading and unloading place, dates, weight, dimensions, number of pallets, type of goods, dangerous goods class and specials such as tail lift or temperature control. Dispatch can then price immediately. The enquiry should land straight in your dispatch or CRM system, with an acknowledgement for the customer.

For existing customers, access to shipment tracking and documents such as delivery notes or proofs of delivery pays off if your transport management system has an API.

Legal and trust

In Germany anyone running commercial road haulage needs a Community licence under Section 3 of the Road Haulage Act (GüKG). Show licence, insurance and certificates on the website; shippers check these with new partners. The legal notice needs the usual details including the commercial register.

Finding drivers and cost

Professional drivers are scarce. A careers page with pay, routes (local or long haul, home at weekends or not), vehicles, equipment and support with licences brings more applications than any job board ad. A short mobile application is a must. A logistics website with service pages, freight enquiry and careers page starts at €1,800 with us; integration with your transport management system is scoped in the quote.

Frequently asked questions

Does a website actually bring transport jobs?
For specialised transport and regional shippers, yes, mainly through searches by transport type and region. For everyone else it's the trust signal new customers check before the first job.
Is an online freight calculator worth it?
For standardised services like domestic pallet shipping it can be. For full loads a quick, personal quote is usually better.
How do drivers find us?
Through Google's job search if every vacancy has its own page with structured data, and through searches like "truck driver job" plus town.
