Websites for insurance brokers and agents in Germany: initial information, register and enquiries

Nobody enjoys buying insurance, but almost everyone needs advice when life changes: starting a business, buying a house, having children, retiring. A broker website brings enquiries when it addresses exactly these situations and builds trust. At the same time, insurance intermediaries in Germany have disclosure duties that belong on many websites and are often missing there.

Organise by occasion, not by line of insurance

Customers rarely search for "property insurance" but for a solution to their situation. Create pages for:

  • Freelancers and founders: professional liability, health insurance, pensions.
  • Business customers by industry: trades, hospitality, IT services.
  • Families and home buyers: buildings insurance, term life, disability.
  • When a claim happens: how you help, with an emergency contact.

Initial information and register number

Anyone brokering insurance in Germany needs a licence under Section 34d of the Trade Regulation Act or is registered as a tied agent. Under Section 15 of the Insurance Mediation Ordinance (VersVermV), you must tell customers at first business contact, among other things, whether you act as broker, agent or adviser, your number in the intermediary register and how to verify it, whether you give advice and how you are paid.

Provide this initial information as a separate page reachable from every page and as a download. The legal notice also needs the licensing authority, usually the competent chamber of commerce (IHK), and the registration number. Details of the arbitration bodies belong there too.

Take enquiries securely and sensibly

For first contact, the occasion, a preferred callback time and contact details are enough. Health details for disability or health insurance are special-category data under Article 9 GDPR and belong in an encrypted client portal or a personal conversation, not a plain web form.

Connect the form to your broker management software or CRM so every enquiry gets an owner and a follow-up date.

Trust and cost

Show your team with qualifications, genuine client testimonials with consent, your specialisms and how you help with claims. Guides on your audiences' common questions bring search traffic when they're specific. A broker website with audience pages, initial information and CRM integration starts at €1,800 with us.

Frequently asked questions

Does the initial information have to be on the website?
The duty applies at first business contact. Many first contacts happen via the website, so an easily reachable page with the initial information is the simplest way to provide it reliably.
May we embed comparison calculators?
Yes, but providing comparisons can itself count as mediation. Check that your licence and disclosure duties cover it.
How do we win business customers through the website?
With industry pages that describe typical risks concretely and an offer of a short insurance check. Business customers decide based on expertise in their sector.
