Websites for cafés and bakeries: branches, pre-orders and allergens

At cafés and bakeries, customers usually want something specific, fast: is the branch around the corner open on Sunday, can I order a cake, is there gluten-free bread? The website has to answer in seconds on a phone and ideally take pre-orders that otherwise block the counter by phone. Examples use German rules.

Branches and opening hours

With several branches, each needs its own page with address, opening hours, Sunday and holiday hours, seating and specialities such as breakfast or lunch. Each branch gets its own Google Business Profile linking to its page. Structured data per location helps search engines match the details correctly.

Pre-orders that save work

Phone pre-orders cost time at the counter. Online you can handle:

  • Cakes and festive bakes with size, inscription, pickup date and branch.
  • Pre-ordered rolls for regulars or companies, one-off or weekly.
  • Sandwich platters and breakfast baskets for meetings.
  • Lead times and deposits shown clearly so no unrealistic orders come in.

Allergens and ingredients

Allergens must be declared for loose baked goods. In the shop, Section 4 of Germany's food information implementing ordinance allows this verbally if written documentation exists and a notice points to it. For online pre-orders the information must be available before ordering. A product overview with allergens on the website helps customers with intolerances and relieves staff.

Jobs, range and cost

Bakeries are almost always looking for sales staff and apprentices. A careers section with hours, pay and a short application belongs on the website. Also show what makes you special: craft, sourdough, regional ingredients, seasonal bakes, with real photos from the bakery.

A café or bakery website with branch pages, pre-orders and a careers section starts at €1,800 with us; connecting pre-orders to your POS or production planning is scoped in the quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need an online shop for cakes?
A simple ordering flow with a pickup date is usually enough. A full shop only pays off if you also ship or sell many products online.
How do we keep opening hours up to date?
Maintain them in one place in the editor and in the Google profile. Enter holiday hours a few weeks in advance.
Is Instagram enough instead of a website?
Instagram shows your products well but answers opening hours, branches and pre-orders poorly. Both together work best.
