Is a business blog worth it? When articles bring enquiries and when they don't

Many companies start a blog with enthusiasm, write three posts about company news and then stop. No wonder it brings nothing. A blog pays off when it answers questions your customers type into Google before buying. This article shows when the effort pays off and how to start.

When a blog pays off

A blog brings the most when these points apply:

  • Your customers research before buying: costs, process, comparing options, legal questions.
  • Your service needs explaining, such as automation, renovation, software or consulting.
  • You can publish a good article regularly, about once or twice a month.
  • Someone in the company knows customers' questions first-hand.

Topics that work

Articles that fully answer a specific question work best: "What does … cost", "… or …: which fits?", "Checklist for …", "What obligations apply to …". Every article links to the matching service page. Company news such as anniversaries or new staff belongs on social media or in a news section, not in the guides.

Effort and AI

A good guide takes a few hours depending on the topic: research, writing, checking, images, publishing. AI tools speed up outlining and wording. Google evaluates content on usefulness, not on whether AI was involved; mass-produced pages without added value do violate its spam policies. Your experience, prices and examples make the difference.

Measuring success

Don't just measure visitors; measure how many readers click to the service page and enquire. Search Console shows which queries articles appear for. First results usually show after a few months. Regularly updating old articles often brings more than constantly writing new ones. We create a topic plan for your blog as part of our SEO setup from €450.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I blog?
Better one good article a month than four weak ones. Regularity helps; quality decides.
Can I have articles written entirely by AI?
Technically yes, but without your experience, prices and examples they sound like every competitor's. Use AI as a tool and check every text.
How long should a blog post be?
As long as it takes to answer the question fully. For most guide topics that's a few hundred to two thousand words.
